CAROUSELS CAMPAIGN

People for Parks is committed to building community support to provide for the preservation and care of Raleigh’s two historic carousels. The two carousels are located in Pullen Park and Chavis Park. More information on each carousel follows. Our carousels are a valuable part of our local history. They are cultural jewels in our community. Each carousel is a beautiful example of a varnishing art form. The finely carved and richly painted animals represent carousels as fun, interactive fine art. Raleigh’s two carousels have different and unique histories. They provide today’s children the rare opportunity of having a memorable childhood experience that their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents enjoyed many years ago.
