Raleigh’s First Carousel Pullen Park’s amusement section is one of the oldest continually operating amusement parks in the world. The 1911 Dentzel Carousel moved to Pullen Park in 1921 from Bloomsbury Park, located on Crabtree Creek close to Lassiter Mill Road. The popular amusement park was owned and operated by Carolina Power and Light Company and was accessed from downtown Raleigh by a trolley car ride. The City of Raleigh purchased the Dentzel carousel, one of the popular features at Bloomsbury Park, for $1,500 from Carolina Power and Light Company.
